FORGIVENESS

                                               FORGIVENESS

One of Satan’s greatest schemes is to make people live under a cloud of guilt. For example, A young person did not attend church for a long time and was feeling quite guilty. Now it is alright to feel some sense of remorse for this. In fact, initially this can be seen as quite healthy. This is a sign that God is trying to reach a person.  (Our Heavenly Father’s Word says we should not stop, “Assembling together(coming to church), as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near(Christ’s return for His Church and the final judgment of all mankind.) However, contrary to various beliefs which people have we must understand that if we ask God to forgive us that He will. Of course asking forgiveness should be accompanied by true repentance(turning away from sin). Once this is done we no longer have to operate with a sense of guilt or uncertainty. God gives us this assurance in His Word. *******Psalm 103:1-3 says, “Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” Emphasis on, “forgives all your sins.” Also, in 1 John 1:9 , God, says that, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” As ‘born again Christians’ we no longer have to live under guilt. If we ask Jesus to forgive us for our sins we can have peace in knowing that our prayers have been answered. When we have a relationship with God just based on religion or sets of rules, rather than a spiritual encounter with God, it can have a devastating affect on our lives. We will miss out on so much of what God is truly like. In the Old Testament the High Priests would offer the lamb as a sacrifice for the sins of the people(This was only a temporal means for dealing with the sins of mankind. It was a type and shadow of what was to come, Jesus’ death on the Cross.) But when the ultimate High Priest (Jesus Christ, The Lamb of God) came to make the Supreme Sacrifice, by dieing on the Cross, animal sacrifices were ended. In fact we who are believers have become kings and priests in His service. Religion in itself will not let you understand this but it is true. God’s Word says, “And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 1:6 (KJV) The New International Version , with the same meaning, says it a little differently. —“To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father-to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.” Revelation 1:6 (NIV) One of the things I want to convey to you, is that we no longer have to go to a man to intercede for us but we, as believers, can go directly to the throne room of God, by praying to the Father, in the Name of Jesus. Don’t worry about feeling inadequate. It does not matter how small we may feel. Please make note, that, “The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV) For example, in the eyes of the world people see a world renowned lawyer as more important than a person who sweeps streets or works at a check out counter for a living. But in God’s eyes (kingdom), while we may have different roles, no one is more important to God than the other. We all come on equal footing.

What God is looking for, “Is a broken spirit. A broken and repentant heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalm 51:17 (NLT)

The Message Bible says, “I learned God-worship when my pride was shattered. Heart-shattered lives ready for love don’t for a moment escape God’s notice.” Psalm 51:17

So whoever you are, wherever you may be please know that you can come as you are to God and He will accept you as you are. In doing so you are going to find that His love will overwhelm you.
