WRITTEN IN STONE

Special Note: I wanted to get this out you as soon as possible. I may have to revise this and make corrections.

GOD’S LAWS ARE IMMUTABLE:  Your word, O LORD, is eternal, it stands firm in the heavens. Psalm 119:89

The word of God is our reference point. It is our compass through life.  All other teachings are to be measured by the Word of God. If it goes against the Bible we can know that no matter how good it may sound it is in error.  You can never do anything against the truth because in the end truth always prevails.  If we don’t know the Word of God we cannot live out life truly successfully.  A person might obtain an education from a recognized university, hold a job at some world renowned company, drive a much desired automobile, have a beautiful family and live in a prestigious neighborhood, yet be on the verge of committing suicide. In this life there are pressures that push people to the edge. As our Lord Jesus warns us, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” Now there’s nothing wrong with wanting nice things. If a person works hard to achieve success(in the way of education, a nice house, etc., he or she should be rewarded. It is when people make it their chief focus in life to acquire stuff that it becomes a problem. You see, whatever is first in your life is your god. When this happens people will do anything to achieve these things at any price. “For within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these things come from inside and make a man unclean.” Mark 7:21 This is why God solemnly warned Israel(this also applies to all mankind today) that, “You must not have any other god but me. You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them.” Exodus 20:3-5 The main reason that God so strongly warns us of such things is that He does not want us to hurt ourselves. You have to remember that He knows everything, HE LOVES US! HE WANTS US TO BE SAFE FROM ALL HARM. God is motivated by His love for us. That is why he has done so much for us! He loves us so much that He gave the ultimate sacrifice. You see, God is Holy, He is faultless, He is perfect in all His ways. A Holy God has to deal with sin. After Satan caused the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, God had to find a way to buy mankind back and rescue us from hell. Before this time there had never been a death. In order to rescue us He had to give His very best. You see, even though mankind disobeyed God’s command in the garden God’s love for us never wavered. His eternal plan for the people whom He created in His image(Genesis 1:26) persisted in His heart. But the price would be very costly. It would cost more than anything ever before, since, or that there ever shall be. In order to pay for the souls of all mankind He had to find a living person who was perfect in all his ways. He had to give His only Son. Jesus was the only one who could pay such a price. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” As a result of Jesus’ sacrifice God now has many sons and daughters. By accepting Christ into our hearts we can now receive eternal life. What Adam, the first man lost, Jesus, has regained for us. Thus what the devil meant for bad God has turned it around for good. The Holy Scriptures say that God, “Has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom what God has done from the beginning to the end.” Ecclesiastes 3:16

There so many teachings in the world today that unless you have Jesus as your anchor, as it pertains to your destiny, you are in deep trouble. God warns us to, “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.  Colossians 2:8  In God’s love letter(The Bible) to us we are also told to, Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.” 1 Peter 5:8  Remember that Satan has been at his crafts of deception for thousands of years so he has had plenty of time perfect his plots against mankind. But thank God for His master plan to rescue us. After a person accepts Christ into his/her heart God promises that, “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.” Isaiah 59:19b That is both our spiritual and physical enemies.

Look at the contrast between what the enemy of your soul(Satan and demons,) and God(the Creator and Lover of your soul) wants to do to people. The thief’s(Satan and demons) purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose(Jesus, God Almighty) is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10

Regardless of what people say the Bible remains the Manufacturer’s Handbook on life. God created gravity, the sun, and everything else. He commands the wind and the oceans, and everything else must obey his voice. Of course we realize that God gives us freedoms. So we cannot blame the worlds’ ills on Him.

God originally programmed people and the world for nothing but good.(Please read Genesis Chapter 1) Even if we don’t properly manage land and the environment we will reek havoc.

Special Note: (You don’t put bicycle tires on a motorcycle and drive it at 65 miles an hour. You don’t put rocket fuel in a gas stove and expect it to operate properly, and you don’t violate the Maker’s rules and expect things to work perfectly. Disobeying God causes both Him and the world which He created to act against mankind. Remember that God is good and all He wants to do is bless people and His creation. Everything that is good comes from Him. (See James 1:17)

When people commit evil acts such as taking innocent lives(abortion), and when greed(being out for one’s self gratification only and refusing to help the, “Poor and needy.” Deuteronomy 15:11) is rampant it causes God and His designed universe to respond. Before going into the ‘Promised Land’ (God Himself gave Israel to the Jewish people) God warned Israel to be very careful not to follow the practices of those whom He was evicting.

He told Moses to, “Speak to the People of Israel. Tell them, I am God, your God. Don’t live like the people of Egypt where you used to live, and don’t live like the people of Canaan where I’m bringing you. Don’t do what they do. Obey my laws and live by my decrees. I am your God. Keep my decrees and laws: The person who obeys them lives by them. I am God… “Don’t pollute yourself in any of these ways. This is how the nations became polluted, the ones that I am going to drive out of the land before you. Even the land itself became polluted and I punished it for its iniquities-the land vomited up its inhabitants. You must keep my decrees and laws- natives and foreigners both. You must not do any of these abhorrent things. The people who lived in this land before you arrived did all these things and polluted the land. And if you pollute it, the land will vomit you up just as it vomited up the nations that preceded you.

Leviticus 1-5, 24-28

Pause: Let’s be honest God has made some very attractive people in this world. We can acknowledge that without sinning.

Scenario Number One: Beautiful woman walking down the street scantily dressed*

An unsaved young/older man may say, “Wow she looks good. She is so beautiful. He begins to lust uncontrollably.

A saved young/older man may see this same beautiful woman. It’s alright for him to acknowledge that she’s beautiful but that is where it stops.  In his spiritual repertoire he quickly remembers the Word of God which says, “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Matthew 5:28   His faith mixed with the word of God helps him to overcome the power of sin.   If by some chance he found himself lusting he must quickly repent. That is to say that he asks for God’s forgiveness and turns away(repents, changes his mind) and no longer looks to lust after her. The Scriptures say that, “If We confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 For the young believer(This has nothing to do with the age of the person but it has to do with how long he/she has known Jesus. Thank God that whether you’re six or sixty you can come to him. Age is no barrier with God. When we become ‘born again’ we are to, “Like newborn babies, crave pure milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” That is to say that we are to desire to read, study, meditate upon, and obey His Word) he or she will learn that as they spend time with Jesus in His Word(Bible) and in their Christian service that they will continually grow stronger in their faith walk. They will find that empowered by the Holy Spirit they have become overcome the sins which used to have control over them. God is so awesome. ***Of course we realize that we can use the same scenario with women looking at men in the same way, and if we choose to we can use other examples.***

Scenario Number Two:   Adam and Eve(the first humans on earth) in the garden while the devil was seeking to destroy them…

God gave instructions that they were not to eat fruit from a particular tree. “And the Lord god commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden, but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die. Genesis 2:16-17

In the garden, Satan said to Eve, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” … When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her.” Genesis 3:1,3

Satan tempted them. They should have gone to God’s Word. He told them, “you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” This would have given them strength to resist the devil. If they had obeyed God’s instructions sin would not have had such a devastating affect on the world. There would be no sickness, death, and we would not know the effects of a fallen world. The good new is that, for those who believe and place their trust in Him, Jesus has fixed that by sacrificing His life on the Cross.

Scenario Number Three:  Thieves, unwittingly being used by Satan to steal, try to get one of God’s children to join them…

Regarding a convenience store, thieves may say something like, “There’s an easy hit over there.  They take the money to the bank every Tuesday at such and such a time.  We’ll be waiting and steal the money quick.

If they tried to get a man or woman who was on fire for Jesus to join them either of them would quickly tell them no.  Further, he or she warn them not to do such a thing.  This godly man or woman knows the ending for people who commit such crimes.  If they never come to repentance they will end up in hell.  He or she would know that The Holy Scriptures are very clear on this.  (see 1 Corinthians Chapter 6)

Some people say that they don’t have to go to church to serve God.  While it is true that you can talk to God anywhere it is also true that we should go to church.  We should read the Word of God everyday.  But if someone tries to convince the man or woman who know Jesus personally that they don’t have to go the House of God to worship they would know that the Holy Scriptures(Bible) says that we are, “Not to give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another -and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25   In other words God is telling His people that we should make it to church regularly.  He emphasizes all the more as we near the Day of Christ’s return.

It is impossible to overemphasize the importance of studying God’s Word(The Bible).  Although Jesus defeated Satan we who know Jesus have to take our stand in this fallen world. You cannot successfully defeat the enemy(demonic forces) at every turn and carry out God’s plan for your life if you are not equipped with the Word of God.  Please get yourself a good Bible.

If you believe that Jesus is the true Savior of the world and want to be assured that you are going to heaven just say this prayer out loud right now.

Say, Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the only Savior of the world and you died on the Cross for my sins. I believe that you rose again on the third day. I ask you to forgive me for all of my sins. I truly repent. I turn away from a life of sin and I ask you to come into my heart and live. I accept you as my personal Lord and Savior and Master of my life. Please lead me and guide through the rest of this life and into eternal life. Thank you for saving my soul. I pray this in your name, Jesus. Amen.

If you sincerely prayed that prayer the angels in heaven are rejoicing. Even God is elated. Welcome to the family of God. It is important to follow up. I suggest that you get yourself a good Bible such as the NIV, the NASB, or some other version that not been tampered with. While I don’t wish to insult anyone please don’t get the New World Translation, or the book of Mormons. I even challenge my Catholic friends to be careful of the apocrypha which are, Quote “Biblical writings of disputed authenticity: books of the Bible that are included in the Vulgate and Septuagint versions of the Christian Bible, but not in the Protestant Bible or the Hebrew canon.” Unquote

I would add that other good translations of the Bible are the King James Version, The New King James Version, and The New Living Translation to name a few. Also the Life Application Bible is great it offers a number of versions along with a concordance. While reading His Word is hearing directly from God there is no substitute for having Jesus dwell in your heart. When God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit dwell in you it makes all the difference. With the Holy Spirit as your teacher He makes the Word of God come alive in your life. People who don’t know Jesus personally can read the Bible too but they don’t get an alive word. They get what’s called the logos or the written Word and are able to understand what they read but those who are born again get what’s called a rhema Word in other words it is alive and active and actually changes one’s life. For those of you who don’t yet have a bible please know BibleGateway.com is an excellent resource for studying the Bible Word of God. They have various versions to read. It’s excellent opportunity to get started. You must get yourself a good Bible. Please know that I love you, we love you, and God has awesome plans for you.

And please remember to pray. Start praying like never before. Don’t worry about what to say. Just come as you are. Just say, Father in the Name of Jesus. And talk to Him about any and everything. God knows everything about you.

And as you begin to learn His Word you’ll begin to pray according to knowledge. And God is going to do awesome things in your life.

Please call 1-800-759-0700 or one of the other prayer lines located on the menu of this web site.  Tell the prayer counselor who answers that you have and accepted Christ into your heart and would like to receive helpful information on how to get started on your new walk with God. You can also ask for help on how to find a Bible believing church.

Jesus loves you.
